I have a bit of a stomach ache just wondering if that normal. Very hungry and I keep eating healthy all day. Does the hunger subside also?
Been on the starch diet 3 days and lost 8 lbs and have more energy already.

Thanks for answering so quickly. I know no nothing is wrong and its normal. My son started with me but does not have a stomach ache. I have cooked several recipes from your book and have snacks on hand. I usually double the recipe and freeze half in case I dont feel like cooking. Again thank you.

Hunger and Stomach Issues
by: Christopher

Hi there!

This is a great question and the answer is "sometimes". Many people say they are very hungry in the beginning and have a stomach ache. Here is what is happening. The pro-biotic in your intestines breaks down our food. When we switch to a plant based diet, the bacteria in our gut that is used to breaking down meat and dairy, is not getting fed!The bacteria is protesting! Jabbing you saying HEY we are starving! Thus, the stomach ache!

Regarding hunger, a couple things are happening. In the beginning, we feel like we are eating a great deal of food and still are slightly hungry. Here is what is happening. First, when you give up calorie dense foods like meat, dairy and oil, you are eating more fiber rich food. The extra fiber is something you are not used to yet. Also, you are building bacteria to break down plants vs. meats and dairy. This will subside. I usually let people know that after 21 days following this way of eating, you will find you are less hungry and you are eating less. You STILL maybe eating more than your meat/dairy friends and this is because you are eating foods that are not as calorie dense.

Lastly, 8 pounds in 3 days is fantastic! Keep going and stay on plan. I keep a cooked sweet potato around in case I am tempted! I consider it an energy bar!

Keep me posted and wooHOO!
